Pagina 1 di 6 Within its international cooperation activities, Armadilla is in contact with institutions and organisations that operate in Syria. Armadilla has been entrusted to promote and organise cooperation actions in Syria since 2004.
Armadilla signed, in 2008, a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health in the Syrian Arab Republic. The objective of the cooperation consists in promoting the rehabilitative capacities of the medical and technical staff of the Ministry of Health and strengthening the networking between institutional rehabilitative services and rehabilitative services provided by local associations in Damascus and its countryside.
Armadilla, in close cooperation with the Italian Fundation Mariani, is implementing a program that includes the following activities : (see : http://www.fondazione-mariani.org/ ) · Training to Syrian Physiatrists in Italy; · Training to Syrian Orthotists and prosthetists (OP technicians) in Italy; · Training to the OP technicians in Syria; · Training to the Physiotherapists in Syria; · Statistical socio-medical survey on disability in Hajar Al Aswad
In cooperation with a local partner, the Association Zahret Al-Mada’en (Zam), Armadilla is implementing a project in Syria funded by the Fondation Assistence International of Lugano and the italian Mariani Foundation of Milan. The project’s aim is to support disabled children with neurological problems in the area of Damasco.
The first phase of the project consisted in the construction of a specific Centre that will improve the assistance given to disabled children in the Municipality of Hajar Al Aswad and strengthen the technical capacities and skills of medical and sanitary staff.
